Anytime children are expected to develop particular skills, it is essential that the skills are modeled for them. It is also critical that children have many chances to practice skills in an authentic way. The community is a group of people that lives and works in close proximity to one another. Community helpers are those people working in the community who act as models to help children to grow in their sense of community and expanding relationships. The teaching community begins by being a community in the classroom, working together, and caring for one another. Children are able to experience being members of a community by having different professions coming into the classroom and showing the class what their job is. It can be a fireman explaining what to do in case of a fire. A community in a classroom allows us to understand roles and opportunities within our community. It demonstrates, for children of and need for rights, responsibilities, fairness, dignity, and goals of the greater good.2. Use economic concepts such as supply and demand and price, to help explain events in the community and nation. In addition, determine 1 field trip site that would help you teach this concept and explain how it would benefit the children. Economics is the study of the distribution of goods and services. Supply is how much of something is available the amount of a specific good or service that is available  to consumers. Demand is how much of something people want. Price is how much something costs, the amount of money that a buyer gives to a seller in exchange for a good or a service. One field trip that I think would be nice is to take the children to a lumber company or to Lowe’s and let them see how people buy lumber to build houses. Let them see about how many pieces that it takes to build a house. let them pick out a couple of  pieces and let them see how much of something people want. Then, let them see how much it costs, and see how much they have to pay the seller in exchange for the goods they picked out.

(Chapter 5)A community is always developing, and it’s members need are often changing, therefore, each participant improves the community by being more attuned to each fact of the group. The teacher leads this effort with positivity, purpose, sensitivity, and a humor. A simple project may involve children helpers, first, first having a discussion and making list or concept map of what the illustration would need to include to be an authentic representation and then creating a class book that can be shared with families. Children can also dress up as a certain community helpers and be individually photographed for a class book. One community event that I would participate in with the children and families inside my classroom would be, cleaning up our local park or playground. Living in a clean environment makes life healthier, pleasant, and less stressful. It can improve the self-image of the children and families as a whole.Use economic concepts such as supply and demand, and price, to help explain events in the community and nation.  In addition, determine 1 field trip site that would help you teach this concept and explain how it would benefit the children. (Chapter 6)Children have to understand the meanings of supply and demand and how they relate to small business. Supply is how much of something is available, whereas demand is how much of something one wants. Therefore, products (goods) are made depending on the need or wants of the consumers (people). Supply and demands leads to the concept of scarcity and needs and wants. Examples of small businesses that supply needs in the community are a great RESOURCE for primary age children. 1 field trip site that would help me teach this concept would be taking a field trip to the simply natural creamery. This can benefit children by allowing children to do hands on learning make concepts more memorable. Have a tour to see the animals, they can help feed animals or even pick up trash to keep away from the animals and the reward can be ice-cream. Involving children in economic real life situations in the improves their economic awareness and skills.
