Anglia Ruskin University People only Learn Through Observation & Experiences Response

  respond to Marlene
Empiricism is essential the belief that knowledge is derived from one’s experiences and observations. Since Hume is a strict empiricist that would mean he believes inevitably everything we believe in is linked to experience.
Hume asks “can he fill in this blank with his own imagination?” The answer is yes because even if it’s never been recognized by the senses, a person can bridge a gap in a pattern by imagining it.
The mind of a person is essential empty when they are born and only learns to think through experiences. So using the mind to bridge an answer and picturing the missing pieces would justify an empiricist mindset to an extent. To my understanding I don’t think Hume statement raised a problem with his strict empiricism, however, it did bring me confusion.
